RAF FIGHTER JETS SCRAMBLED TO INTERCEPT PLANE

Two RAF Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled to Stanstead airport earlier today in an attempt to intercept a Jet2 flight heading to to Dalaman in Turkey it has been revealed.

The jets were scrambled as an emergency because a 25 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and endangering an aircraft. The military air craft caused a ‘Sonic Boom’ that alarmed residents of Essex who flooded 999 with calls about the ‘huge bang’.

Police tweeted: “Large number of 999 calls coming in about a loud explosion. We have liaised with @EssexPoliceUK who are confirming that this is a sonic boom from a passing aircraft.”

A reply from one person on the thread said: “If it was a sonic boom, then a military aircraft was obviously shifting some to get somewhere in a hurry!! Where were they going??!!”

The flight was then forced to return to Stansted after a disruptive passenger became ‘violent’ on board the aircraft police say, this led to her arrest.
