NINE YEAR OLD BOY FOUND ‘CAMPING ALONE’ UNDER BRIGHTON PIER

A nine-year-old boy has been taken into police care after being found camping on his own just under Brighton Pier.

The boy, 9, who cannot be named, was seen by passersby during the storm on Saturday in 50mph winds. He was discovered by volunteers from Brighton Beach Patrol who helped him to safety.

Two adults have been arrested on suspicion of neglect and remain in custody, Sussex Police said and someone has informed media that they saw the boy ‘picking up needles’.

Most of the UK was hit by strong winds and heavy rain on Friday into Saturday and Brighton was one of the places that took the worst hit. The pier itself was battered by the  storm which brought gale force winds to the pier across the night.

Two adults have been arrested on suspicion of neglect of the child, they remain in custody, Sussex Police said. The Police have also asked the public not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident according to reports.
